Provides extensive training in the preparation and welding of pipe in the 5G and 6G position. Includes information on preparation, method of welding ,and electrodes and filler rods used.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Employ safety procedures in preparation and welding of pipe. [a,c,f]
  2. Prepare pipe for welding. [a]
  3. Tack pipe in 5G and 6G position. [a]
  4. Weld pipe in the 5G position with the stringer bead method. [a]
  5. Weld pipe in the 6G position with the stringer bead method. [a]
  6. Demonstrate ability to inspect weld joints before, during and after welding. [a]
