Cloud Foundations is intended for students who seek a general understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. Students are required to sit for a cloud certification exam.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Describe cloud deployment models
  2. Describe a cloud-based global infrastructure
  3. Identify elements of the Total Cost of Ownership
  4. Describe the Shared Responsibility model between the customer and cloud provider
  5. Create and configure a virtual private cloud environment
  6. Create and configure server instances and storage volumes
  7. Discuss methods for implementing security in the cloud
  8. Discuss different database solutions and discuss best use cases of each
  9. Explain how load balancing and high availability are achieved in the cloud
  10. List and explain the principles of a well-architected design
