Prepares students for the demands of reading in a variety of college-level courses through improved reading flexibility, vocabulary, and comprehension. Emphasizes critical reading strategies. Supplements and supports coursework delivered in ENGL 111 .
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Establish a systematic approaches to improve reading, vocabulary, and comprehension
- Develop critical reading and thinking skills
- Develop strategies for making independent critical evaluations of student and published texts, which demonstrates proficiency in reading, evaluating, analyzing, and using material collected from various types of sources.
- Develop an understanding of the role of audience and the rhetorical situation

Visual Rhetoric GRADING POLICY A course grade of C or higher is required for successful completion of ENGL 063. Students who do not meet this standard are encouraged to retake the placement exam. Ask for clarification because 111 requires a C or higher.
