ACCT 225 - Integrated Accounting Systems PREREQUISITES: ACCT 101 - Financial Accounting . PROGRAM: Accounting CREDIT HOURS: 3 LECTURE HOURS: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall, 2013
Uses integrated accounting software package, Sage 50 (formerly known as Peachtree), to illustrate computerized accounting practices. The general ledger will be integrated with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other accounting modules.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Properly record transactions for entry into the computer using appropriate references.
- Trace a transaction from the point of entry in the system to the general ledger account it affects.
- Prepare adjusting and/or correcting entries as needed to bring accounts up to date or correct the ledger.
- Use an accounting software package to perform the complete accounting cycle, including using subsidiary ledgers, which integrate with the general ledger.
- Use an accounting software package to produce financial and managerial reports and explain the usefulness of each report.
- Communicate effectively using correct Standard English, both orally and in writing by completion of papers, projects and/or presentations.
