Prepares students for entry into the information world. Reviews procedures for researching a career; preparing a resume and a portfolio; interviewing; team participation; and ethical/productive job performance. Additionally, all associate degree graduates are required to complete a Technical Outcomes Assessment specific to their program. This could be in the form of an assessment exam, a national certification exam, or a portfolio.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Identify and discuss the career paths available to those with the program degree.
  2. Effectively prepare for an interview, demonstrate effective behavior during the interview, and answer questions in an interview appropriately.
  3. Explain the necessity of being an effective team player.
  4. Express the necessity for effective communication skills and how to sharpen these skills.
  5. Validate the need for life-long learning.
  6. Practice effective time management.
  7. Demonstrate effective use of electronic presentations and create an electronic portfolio.
  8. Take required outcomes assessments.
