An introductory and fundamental course that covers topics of interest and importance to those contemplating a career in criminal justice: employment trends; principal criminal justice careers; fitness and preparation for criminal justice positions; job- seeking challenges and strategies; and, a candid conversation regarding jobs, careers, and your future.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Describe the three major components of the criminal justice system.
- Evaluate functional distinctions among criminal justice careers.
- Discuss and demonstrate an understanding of employment trends.
- Demonstrate critical thinking in a process of career decision-making.
- Demonstrate functional writing and oral presentation competencies in describing and drafting a career plan.
- Prepare a personal strategy for job attainment and career enhancement.
