AGRI 117 - Soil Science PROGRAM: Agriculture CREDIT HOURS: 3 LECTURE HOURS: 2 LAB HOURS: 2 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2019
Classification and characterization of soils and differences between soils, including physical, chemical, and biological properties. Relation of soils to land use and tillage, erosion, drainage, moisture supply and aeration practices. Relationship of soil properties to plant nutrition and to fertilizer chemistry, use, and management.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Understanding applied chemical, physical, and biological concepts related to soil.
- Understanding of the origin, classification, and distribution of soils and their relationship to people and food production.
- Understanding of the fertility management and conservation of soils.
- Understand the environmental impact of soil use.
