DESN 101 - Intro to Design Technology PROGRAM: Design Technology CREDIT HOURS: 3 LECTURE HOURS: 2 LAB HOURS: 2 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall 2020
The purpose of this introductory course is to provide students with a basic understanding of sketching practices and the features and considerations associated with the operation of computer-aided design (CAD) systems. Students will gain valuable hands-on experience creating sketches and using CAD software. Students will complete project(s) (increasing in difficulty) relating to specific technical drawing communication topics and disciplines.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Exercise file management and printing/plotting practices.[a]
- Understand the role of various types of drawings as applied to the design process. [a]
- Research the potential career fields in Design Technology. [a,g]
- Effectively communicate spatial visualizations with appropriate choices of technical drawings. [a,b,e,f]
