Demonstrates the role of the licensed practical nurse in promoting health, restoration, and maintenance across the lifespan. Applies conceptual knowledge to provide safe, quality, compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care for patients experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial health.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Function within the role of the licensed practical nurse. (SLO 1, 2, 6)
- Apply clinical judgment when determining care of patients experiencing alterations in physical and psychosocial health within the context of identified concepts. (SLO 2)
- Demonstrating the use of therapeutic communication with intra- and interdisciplinary teams within the role of the licensed practical nurse as it relates to patients with alterations in select health concepts. (SLO 4, 5)
- Integrate the use of technology in the healthcare settings to promote health and wellness for patients with alterations in physical and psychosocial health. (SLO 5)
- Demonstrate proficiency in dosage calculations and medication administration. (SLO 1, 2, 5)
- Demonstrate safety standards while providing patient centered care. (SLO 1, 2)
- Explore evidence-based practice to provide nursing care to patients with alterations in health within the context of identified concepts to promote safe patient outcomes. (SLO 1, 3)
