This capstone course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to an actual motorsports project in a production type environment. Projects will vary between work on actual race cars and work on supporting tools and equipment for the motorsports industry.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate safe shop practices while working in the lab.
- Identify tools and equipment needed for production assembly/fabrication.
- Build subassemblies to be utilized on a race car.
- Identify and utilize types of materials used in race car fabrication.
- Perform motorsports related projects to build skills in the motorsports realm.
- Develop cost/time estimates for project completion.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Motorsports/Racing rigor.

- Vehicle powertrains
- Vehicle chassis/suspension systems
- Material fabrication/modification
- Basic cutting and welding
- Wiring and soldering
- Project design/material estimation
