Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, and Firearms Qualification
Provides hands on training in the use of various forms of force in the performance of police duties in the field. Students will receive instruction in the use of physical force, use of chemical agents, use of firearms, and defensive tactics. Students will also receive live firearms operation instruction and live-fire qualification testing. The firearms instruction/qualification may occur using a simulator.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
1. Demonstrate the proper use of chemical agents to control subjects.
2. Demonstrate defensive tactics techniques.
3. Pass the physical assessment examination.
4. Demonstrate the safe use of firearms.
5. Complete a qualification course with a firearm on a live range or by using a simulator.
