Focuses on conventions for basic written communication in English, emphasizing sentence construction and paragraph development. Uses writing strategies to produce coherent expression in journals, free writing exercises, paragraphing, and short essays. Emphasizes student collaboration as part of the writing process.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:- Express ideas in complete sentences.
- Vary sentence structure appropriate to the expression of ideas.
- Organize ideas into paragraph form.
- Control the syntax of written English for coherent communication.
- Use revision and editing techniques with peer collaboration.
