CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Provides a culmination of the General Studies experience, designed to prepare the student for transfer to a university or entrance to the workforce within a chosen field. A summative evaluation of educational outcomes will include demonstrated mastery of information literacy; rhetoric; critical thinking skills; an awareness of political, social, and environmental ethics and responsibility; and respect for the diversity of all individuals. Requires a research project, presentation, and/or portfolio.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate mastery of information literacy in general and within the student’s chosen field, including library research skills, APA or MLA formatting, and ability to identify and assess appropriate sources of information.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply pertinent critical thinking, data analysis, mathematical and scientific reasoning to assess evidence to develop strongly supported arguments and draw conclusions.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply ethical judgment and academic integrity.
- Demonstrate an understanding of political, social, ethical, and environmental responsibility.
- Demonstrate an understanding of issues of diversity along multiple demographic dimensions and social justice in general and within the student’s chosen field.
- Develop a personal roadmap for future transfer and/or career path.
