Presents the history and development of quality assurance in various healthcare facilities. Includes quality assessment techniques, utilization management, risk management, credentialing, and medical staff services as related to health information management.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:

  1. Describe healthcare organizations from the perspective of key stakeholders.
  2. Apply policies, regulations, and standards to the management of information.
  3. Identify policies and strategies to achieve data integrity.
  4. Determine compliance of health record content within the health organization.
  5. Describe privacy and security strategies to health information.
  6. Identify compliance requirements throughout the health information life cycle.
