Introduces the mathematical concepts required of the allied health professional to accurately administer medication.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate the relationship between units of measurement and convert systems of measurement.
- Calculate dosages related to the administration of medication utilizing various systems of measurement.
- Demonstrate usage of abbreviations for units of measurement.
- Identify units of measurement including apothecary, household and metric.
- Calculate dosages for medication using information from drug labels.
