This course provides a foundation of information needed to manage the physical plant of a hotel or restaurant and work effectively with the engineering and maintenance department
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:
- Identify hospitality facilities employees and their roles.
- Describe sustainability and its place in a hospitality operation.
- Classify the various back of house operations needed in hotel/restaurant facilities management. i.e. HVAC, lighting, electrical, water, etc.
- Identify building design and maintenance supports for safety, including ADA requirements.
- Apply hotel facilities parameters to food service areas and premise laundry.
- Summarize the life cycle of a hotel and types of renovation
