A field work experience in an approved substance abuse services agency. The student will complete 350 hours under the supervision of an agency professional and a college faculty member. The classroom component will include small group discussion and analysis of the internship experience.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:- Recognize the operational and organizational structure of the agency.
- Demonstrate professionalism by reporting for work on time, keeping appointments, and following the rules and regulations of the agency.
- Develop purposeful helping relationships, assess problems, and develop appropriate courses of action at an advanced level.
- Provide accurate documentation as appropriate.
- Identify effective interventions through the use of the integrative processing model.
- Create a professional resume.
- Demonstrate effective job interviewing skills.
- Assemble and present a portfolio outlining professional skills and personal development.
