HVAC 113 - Low Pressure Boilers

Students learn to perform boiler operations, develop a feed water system, and analyze steam systems while adhering to industry safety standards. Students will perform maintenance on hot water heating systems and analyze cooling systems. This course will use lecture, lab, online simulation, and programming to prepare students to take the boiler operator license exam.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Perform boiler operation principles and adhere to proper safety standards.
  2. Describe various types of boiler fittings.
  3. Develop a feed water system.
  4. Analyze steam systems.
  5. Identify the type of fuel systems used in industry.
  6. Discuss the draft system.
  7. Execute boiler water treatment.
  8. Perform boiler operation procedures used in industry.
  9. Perform maintenance on hot water heating systems.
  10. Analyze cooling systems used in industry.
