Instruction will center on required record keeping, major appliance installation and repair, indoor temperature control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment usage and maintenance, outdoor property condition and upkeep needs, chemical usage and storage, water analysis including building and recreational usage. ADA compliance and safety and liability topics will be discussed in this course.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- List the different types of records that need to be kept on a maintenance operation.
- Create a preventive maintenance plan for various types of equipment.
- Analyze problems with major appliances.
- Explain differences in installation of major appliances.
- Describe requirements for chemical usage and storage.
- Summarize basic ADA requirements for multi-family dwellings and public buildings.
- List safety and liability issues related to rental property.
- Identify processes and procedures necessary for water chemical analysis.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of building controls, smart thermostat, and entry systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain fluid power systems.
- Analyze and determine methods for proper groundskeeping.
