HVAC 207 - HVAC Codes
PROGRAM: Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

Study of state and local codes covering installation, repair, alteration, relocation, replacement and erection of heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration systems. Includes job-related costs of material and equipment, labor, warranty, taxes, permits and subcontracts. Students will estimate service and maintenance contracts.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate safe practices and procedures.
- Interpret information found in blueprints to conform to federal, state and local specifications.
- Describe the contents of the uniform mechanical code manual.
- Describe the application of state and local codes and ordinances governing installation and service of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Define terms and abbreviations of the codes applicable to the HVAC and refrigeration.
- Use the mechanical code manual.
- Interpret local, state and federal codes.
- Describe and discuss HVAC refrigeration, construction and installation requirements, codes and ordinances.
- Describe and discuss miscellaneous heating and cooling devices and related requirements, codes and ordinances.
- Describe sources of authority and methods of enforcement.
