Continuation of MATH 201 Brief Calculus. Covers topics in elementary differential equations, calculus of functions of several variables and infinite series.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Solve integration problems by the technique of integration by parts.
- Solve various application problems involving integration.
- Work definite integral applications.
- Calculate the volume of a solid of revolution.
- Use the Trapezoidal Rule for area approximation.
- Solve certain differential equations, giving both general and particular solutions.
- Solve applications involving differential equations.
- Apply L’Hopital’s Rule.
- Determine whether an improper integral is convergent or divergent and calculate its value if it is convergent.
- Calculate convergence and divergence of improper integrals.
- Solve applied problems involving improper integrals.
- Given a probability density function find E(X), E(X), the mean, the variance, and the standard deviation.
- Determine the partial derivatives of a given function of several variables.
- Determine the relative maximum and minimum values of a function of two variables.
- Use the differential of a function of two or more variables.
- Solve applied problems involving LaGrange multipliers.
- Determine if a series converges or diverges.
- Find Taylor approximations.
- Use technology as appropriate to enhance course objectives
