MTTC 110 - Turning and Milling Processes PROGRAM: Machine Tool Technology CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 2 LAB HOURS MIN: 2 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2019
Provides shop safety, industrial terminology and laboratory experiences on conventional lathe and milling machines.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate applications of machining speeds and feeds. (a)
- Interpret detail and assembly drawings of tooling and related components. (b)
- Interpret engineering data presented in graphs or charts, algebraic expressions, and proportional relationships. (b,e)
- Demonstrate the correct use of basic hand tools, special accessories, and required testing equipment. (a)
- Perform routine preventative maintenance procedures. (i)
- Develop and utilize mathematical formulas to compute coordinates and solve lathe and milling machine related problems. (e)
- Apply basic knowledge of physics-mechanics to lathe and mill problems. (e)
- Apply tolerance limits and fits to meet lathe and mill machine tooling problems. (a)
- Identify and demonstrate correct setup and operation of tooling applications for the conventional engine lathe and mill. (a)
- Think critically and independently analyze, synthesize, and evaluate technical problems and information. (i)
