MTTC 200 - CNC Production Processes
PREREQUISITES: MTTC 195 - Multi-Axis CNC Setup and Operation II .

This course challenges the students to apply all of their skill in a modern production atmosphere. Students will be responsible to set up, operate, and monitor several production runs of product during the course. They will be assessed on quality, productivity, cost control, application of lean principles in the workplace, and documentation consistent with quality standards and process routing requirements. This course will utilize all types of CNC machines available.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate ability to properly setup equipment per process parameters provided for in process routing. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to properly operate all types of CNC equipment as part of assigned duties. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to properly monitor assigned processes per process parameters established in process routing. [a]
- Demonstrate ability to maintain high quality standards and documentation per process routing and applicable quality system requirements. [b,f]
- Demonstrate ability to work as a team and apply lean principles to achieve process improvements. [d]
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot basic types of machining problems. [e]

- Machine zero, program zero, part zero settings
- Unique G and M code functions
- Process sequencing
- Tooling capabilities and selection
- Threading and Thread Whirling
- Material Preparation
- Bar feed and loader interfacing
- Coolant: flood, mist, through-the-tool
- Compensations: tool nose radius, tool shape, tool wear
- Creating process plans and tooling routings
- Advanced Machine Setup and Operation Techniques
- Simultaneous machining
- Live tooling
