The fundamentals of airway management including airway anatomy and physiology, assessment, management, ventilation, and suction are emphasized. General patient assessment, initial management including scene survey, initial assessment, resuscitation, focused/detailed exam, history, definitive field management, and re-evaluation are also introduced.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to demonstrate competency and integrate comprehensive knowledge of National EMS Educational Standards for the following topic areas:

  • Airway Management
  • Respiration
  • Artificial Ventilation
