QUAL 206 - ISO/QS International Standards PREREQUISITES: QUAL 101 Quality Control Concepts and Techniques or LOGM 201 Logistics Quality & Lean Management PROGRAM: Advanced Automation and Robotics Technology CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall 2024
This course examines the principles of quality management standards and their implementation. Generally, ISO 9000 will be the focus of this class; but other quality system standards may also be included based on local industry demand such as ISO 16949 or ISO 13485. Students will develop a mock quality system that addresses each element of the current revision of the quality system(s) studied including manual and supporting documentation.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:- Understand each element of the current revision of the ISO 9001 quality management system. [f]
- Differentiate between internal and external customers. [e]
- Identify and analyze customer feedback methodologies. [e]
- Identify obstacles to successful implementation. [e,f]
- Describe the role of third-party registration. [f]
- Construct a Quality System Manual. [i]
- Develop communication skills both written and oral. [f]
- Identify the basic principles of auditing. [e]
- Plan an internal audit. [e]
- Conduct an internal audit. [e]
- Prepare a written report of an internal audit. [e,f]
- Identify the parts of a supplier management process including performance measures. [e,f]
- Understand the overall organization as an interconnected system. [e,f]
- Prepare a corrective action preventative action report (CAPA) [e,f]
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret technical documents. [b,e]
- Demonstrate ability to use various types of software applicable to course. [a]
