This introductory course teaches the therapist the integration of essential oils and aromatherapy into massage techniques. Key components of essential oil plants, oil production, and commercial use will also be discussed.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate the use of essential oils in massage.
- Incorporate the selection of appropriate essential oils into a treatment plan.
- Demonstrate techniques utilized in aromatherapy.
- Discuss history of aromatherapy.
- Identify key components of essential oil plants, oil production and commercial use.
- Demonstrate combining oils
COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -
- Assessments for personalized aroma treatments
- Develop personalized aroma combinations
- Effects of essentials oils on body systems
- Essential oil interactions
- Indications and contraindications of essential oils.
- Use of aromatherapy oils in baths, facials, steam salts and massage creams
