This course covers the second half of NCCER Plumbing Level 3. Its modules cover topics such as sizing DWV and storm drain systems, sewage and sump pumps, corrosive resistant waste piping, compressed air, and service plumbing. The NCCER Plumbing Level 3 certificate and wallet card will also be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Apply math concepts, including weights and measures, area and volume, temperature, pressure, and force. Describe the six simple machines: inclined planes, levers, pulleys, wedges, screws, and wheels and axles.
2. Compare techniques for sizing water supply systems, including calculating system requirements and demand, developed lengths, and pressure drops. Describe the factors that can reduce efficiency of water supply piping. Describe different backflow prevention devices and explain how they work, where they are used, and how they are installed in water supply systems.
3. Describe how to disinfect, filter, and soften water supply systems. Discuss how to troubleshoot water supply problems, flush out visible contaminants from a plumbing system, and disinfect a potable water plumbing system.
4. Compare the different types of vents that can be installed in a DWV system and explain how they work. Illustrate design and demonstrate installation techniques.
5. Attain readiness to take the first half of NCCER Plumbing Level 3 certification exams.

GRADING POLICY
Students must score 70 percent or higher on all module examinations to receive recognition from NCCER. Students must also complete each performance task to the satisfaction of the instructor to receive recognition from NCCER. If either of the above requirements are not met the student will forfeit NCCER certification and will receive a one letter grade reduction for the class.
