This course covers the second half of NCCER Plumbing Level 4. Its modules cover topics such as plumbing codes, water pressure booster and recirculation systems, private water supply well systems, private waste disposal systems, plumbing for mobile homes and travel trailer parks, medical gas, and vacuum systems. The NCCER Plumbing Level 4 certificate and wallet card will also be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Calculate drainage fixture units for waste systems. Describe how to size drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems; storm drainage systems; and roof storage and drainage systems.
2. Describe the installation, diagnosis, and repair of pumps, controls, and sumps in sewage and storm water removal systems.
3. Discuss corrosive wastes and review related safety issues and hazard communications. Explain how to determine when corrosive-resistant waste piping needs to be installed, as well as how to correctly select and properly connect different types of piping.
4. Describe the principles of compressed air systems and their components and accessories. Discuss installation and periodic servicing of air compressor systems.
5. Describe the troubleshooting and repair of fixtures, valves, and faucets in accordance with code and safety guidelines. Explain how to diagnose and repair water supply and drainage piping, water heaters, and other appliances and fixtures. Describe the effects of corrosion, freezing, and hard water on plumbing systems.
6. Attain readiness to take the second half of NCCER Plumbing Level 3 certification exams.

GRADING POLICY
Students must score 70 percent or higher on all module examinations to receive recognition from NCCER. Students must also complete each performance task to the satisfaction of the instructor to receive recognition from NCCER. If either of the above requirements are not met the student will forfeit NCCER certification and will receive a one letter grade reduction for the class.
