Covered in this course are topics to include: transesophageal echocardiography, cardio-oncology, systemic diseases, transplant and associated conditions, stress echocardiography, and cardiac trauma. Three-dimensional cardiac ultrasound and strain measurements associated with conditions will be covered.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Describe the uses, processes, and physics behind 3-D echocardiography.
2. Describe and demonstrate the methods and processes of both exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography.
3. Identify multiple systemic disease processes, pathophysiologic effects as well as monitoring of such conditions.
4. Describe the process and identify the images of transesophageal echocardiography.
5. Demonstrate the sonographer’s role, methods and processes used in transesophageal echocardiography.
6. Identify considerations of the transplanted heart, associated conditions, and post-surgical appearances.
7. Identify post-surgical pathophysiologic effects on the transplanted heart.
8. Describe the role of echocardiography in cardio-oncology.
9. Describe methods and exam processes used with cardiac trauma patients.
10. Understand differential diagnoses of pathologies covered in this course.
11. Define and understand cardiac strain and speckle tracking methods, uses, and efficacy in certain patients.
