This course will continue to build on the principles learned in Vascular Sonography I and II. There will be a study of the upper and lower peripheral arterial system to include anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Alternate imaging modalities and the reporting processes will be covered. Treatment processes used in arterial disease management as well as exam limitations in the course of treatment will be discussed.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Describe and understand upper and lower arterial anatomy.
2. Describe and understand pathology and physiology of upper and lower extremity arterial systems.
3. Describe and understand the protocol for 2D and Doppler analysis of the upper and lower arterial systems.
4. Understand the normal and pathologic waveforms of the upper and lower arterial systems.
5. Define treatment of various arterial diseases using bypasses, surgical intervention, and limitations with treatments.
6. Explain alternate imaging for the arterial system and limitations of this imaging.
7. Define the sonographer’s responsibility in testing and physician reporting.
