To explain, define, apply, and practice critical communication skills needed for successful careers in logistics and supply chain. Using a variety of scenarios in logistics, supply chain, and manufacturing, students will engage in reading, discussions, videos, case studies, and presentations. Ensure students acquire mastery level understanding of verbal, non-verbal, and written and communication skills, as well as effective teamwork practices highly-valued by employers in the fields of logistics, supply chain, and manufacturing.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1. Explain the role of communication in logistics and supply chain.
2. Apply the principles of communication and knowledge of the communication model to specific supply chain situations and analyze how it affects the outcome.
3. Identify and apply guidelines for effective communication in departmental and cross-functional supply chain teams.
4. Organize work and utilize team roles to meet project goals.
5. Apply learned techniques for dealing with difficult people or situations.
6. Define culture and describe the customs that are present in logistics and supply chain work environments.
7. Clearly, effectively, and convincingly express ideas and messages that are appropriate to the specific logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environment.
8. Demonstrate high quality work by reviewing the detailed aspects of the work processes and end products typical in a supply chain environment.
