AVIT 106 - Introduction to UAS

An introduction to unmanned aerial systems operations. Students will gain exposure to the history of UAS including control functions, ground based flight aid systems, visual and non-visual navigation, obstacle and terrain avoidance systems and current UAS applications. This course will expose students to UAS use in the agriculture, surveying and marketing fields.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to;
- Display a working knowledge of historical UAS development
- Interpret and implement flight regulations
- Assess UAS use applications
- Develop decision making and problem-solving skills related to UAS flight operations
- Demonstrate the ability to implement UAS in non-commercial applications
