AVIT 113 - UAS Commercial Surveying PREREQUISITES/COREQUISITE: AVIT 107 UAS Fundamentals of Flight
CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 2 LAB HOURS MIN: 2 Students will use photogrammetric and LiDAR point clouds to represent three-dimensional objects in space when collected via UAS. This course will expose a student to point cloud collection system accuracy, weather, system limitations, regulatory restrictions, training and liability. Students will be guided through UAS business operations and ethics.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to;
- Apply ground control points, real-time kinematic positioning satellite navigation or post-processed kinematic global positioning to achieve survey-grade material
- Contrast fixed vs rotary wing UAS in commercial surveying
- Assess UAS use applications
- Develop decision making and problem-solving skills related to UAS surveying flight operations
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully plan and conduct surveying UAS flights
