ASEP 281 - GM Bronze Level Internship PREREQUISITES: Program Advisor Approval CREDIT HOURS MIN: 1 LAB HOURS MIN: 0 CO-OP/INTERNSHIP HOURS MIN: 5 TOTAL CONTACT HOURS MIN: 80
In this first of four cooperative education internship periods, eligible students apply classroom and lab learning in a sponsoring GM dealership to gain substantive, hands-on experience aligned with their career goals. Successful completion earns credit toward the Associate of Applied Science degree. Throughout the internship, students continue required modules in GM’s Center of Learning (service technician online training) and maintain preparation for nationally recognized ASE certification exams.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Demonstrate proper shop practices in a GM dealership setting
- Adhere to all employment requirements of the host worksite.
- Complete evaluation forms and return to Program Chairperson..
- Strive to achieve flat rate time on all repairs.
- Utilize advanced technology and equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles.
- Develop ASE test taking techniques.
- Repair vehicles to GM dealership specifications.
