ASEP 283 - GM Gold Level Internship

In this third of four cooperative education internships, eligible students continue applying classroom and lab learning at their sponsoring GM dealership. They gain hands-on, career-aligned experience and earn credit toward the Associate of Applied Science degree. Throughout the internship, students complete required modules in GM’s Center of Learning (service technician online training) and maintain preparation for nationally recognized ASE certification exams.



MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  

  1. Demonstrate proper shop practices in a GM dealership setting 

  1. Adhere to all employment requirements of the host worksite. 

  1. Complete evaluation forms and return to Program Chairperson.. 

  1. Strive to achieve flat rate time on all repairs. 

  1. Utilize advanced technology and equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles. 

  1. Develop ASE test taking techniques. 

  1. Repair vehicles to GM dealership specifications.

  • Repair orders 

  • Flat rate calculations 

  • GM dealership operational procedures

  • GM braking system applications 

  • GM diagnostic procedures 

  • GM electrical system repair

  • GM climate control repairs 

  • GM suspension and alignment procedures
