This course will help the student not only understand the benefits of military service, specifically service in the Army, but also how those benefits align with a variety of careers in public service. Completion of this course will enhance the student’s knowledge and skills, preparing for future opportunities in the military or public service. It provides a solid foundation to navigate the intricate connections between military experiences and related public service pathways.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be expected to:
- Summarize the characteristics of leadership
- Explain the similarities and differences between military and public leadership
- Apply Performance and Resilience Enhancement skills
- Explain the purpose of uniform wear, restrictions, and standards
- Describe the impact of the chain of commands on communication, decision-making, and accountability in public service roles.
- Demonstrate a proper salute
- Discuss the difference between a team leader and a project leader
- Give examples of customs/courtesies
- Explain the importance of ethics in decision making
