Presents an overview of agriculture sustainability and the diversity of sustainable agriculture techniques. This course will cover various areas/topics in sustainability as they relate to the agriculture industry.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Describe the benefits of sustainable agriculture.
- Recognize the diversity of agricultural systems in the United States and the world.
- Describe the diversity of sustainability and how humans can improve and sustain our resources.
- Discuss current trends in sustainable agriculture and gardening.
- Research and define soil nutrient management.

- Sustainable agriculture
- Organic Fertilizers/Pesticides
- The three main aspects of sustainable agriculture
- History of sustainable agriculture
- The four R’s of Soil Nutrient Management
- Current trends in sustainable agriculture

- Promoting soil health

- Use of cover crops
- Use of less tillage
