This course covers air conditioning and heating systems used on modern vehicles including both manual and automatic systems. EPA regulations as well as recycle processes will be practiced.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate proper handling of refrigerants. (a,b,d,e,f,g,h,i)
- Identify tools and equipment used in climate control systems. (b,f)
- Identify all components of the heating and air conditioning system. (f)
- Explain the purpose and function of the heating and air conditioning systems. (f,g)
- Explain refrigeration theory. (f,g)
- Diagnose service and repair heating and air conditioning components. (a,b,c,e,f,g,h,i)
- Recover and recycle refrigerants using approved equipment. (a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i)
- Demonstrate knowledge of automatic climate control systems. (a,b,f)
- Diagnose automatic and manual climate control systems. (a,b,c,e,f,g,h,i)
- Explain hybrid climate control system operation. (e,f,g)
