BCOT 110 - Cabinetry PROGRAM: Construction Technology CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 2 LAB HOURS MIN: 2 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Summer, 2011
Develops knowledge and skills in building cabinets, including methods of construction, necessary hardware and installation; also use of portable power tools and stationary power tools.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Select the proper species of wood for specific projects.
- Selection of proper hardware and fasteners for each project.
- Demonstrate skills in the safe use of hand tools and power tools.
- Classify materials used by the cabinetmaker.
- Set-up and maintain woodworking machinery.
- Interpret drawings.
- Design, layout, and construct various assigned projects.
- Measure accurately and use right triangle applications.
- Compare the effects of expansion and contraction on wood products.
- Identify the joints used in woodworking.
- Identify various grain patterns.
