Emphasizes the production of publication-quality documents. Attention is given to design and layout principles and production techniques. Fonts, graphics, and page composition are integrated into camera-ready documents using Microsoft Publisher.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Demonstrate the use of various system components used in the desktop publishing process.
- Create newsletters, brochures, flyers, and announcements using the elements of graphic design.
- Apply the elements of graphic design to a variety of documents.
- Use computer software to integrate text and graphics.
- Analyze a target audience and choose appropriate fonts and graphics.
- Edit text and graphics after a page is fully laid out.
- Integrate the elements of design, templates, graphics, printing, binding, and graphics editing.
- Assemble a portfolio of outstanding original work.
