CATX 201 - Physical Principles and Quality Control II PREREQUISITES: Program Chair Approval PROGRAM: Medical Imaging CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2021
This class is a continuation of CATX 101 - Physical Principlesclinical Applicationsand Quality Control I . This class will discuss advances in spiral CT and 3D CT and the impact on adults and pediatrics patients. This class will discuss contrast media administration, adverse reaction and post-procedures treatment and documentation. Students will learn the different methods of injection techniques and patient interaction and management. Provides in-depth details on radiation dose and quality control standards. It will also discuss continuous Imaging of Real-Time CT, virtual CT, treatment planning, and Fluoroscopy and pediatric CT.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Analyze the image quality, image artifacts, and noise reduction.
- Apply patient dose and radiation protection in CT
- Demonstrate proper procedures of patient interaction, safety, and management.
- Contrast administration, adverse reaction, and post-procedure care.
- Critique injection technique, administration route, and dose based on protocol.
- Discuss advances in CT and 3D CT and impacts on patients.
