CATX 203 - CT Clinical Education II


PREREQUISITES: Acceptance into CT program and Program Chair Approval

This is the second of two rotations through either one or various clinical sites to allow the student to acquire competency in the field of computed tomography. During the clinical rotations the student is required to use the knowledge acquired in the cognitive domain to display appropriate behavior in the affective domain and to build skills in the psychomotor domain. This is accomplished by scanning actual patients under controlled conditions.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Demonstrate principles of professional ethics.
  2. Demonstrate successful relationships with staff technologists by asking appropriate questions, assisting the technologist during scanning, and by directly dealing with patients.
  3. React to criticism constructively and demonstrate the desire to improve.
  4. Demonstrate competency in a VARIETY of exams including those not done routinely.
  5. Identify body planes and terminology and explain how they pertain to cross sectional anatomy.
  6. Perform patient and radiation safety.
  7. Identify safety precautions in pre-, intra-, and post-procedures.
  8. Analyze cross sectional anatomy and structures in the topical areas of study.
  9. Perform procedures outlined in the course content.
  10. Contrast types of common pathologies associated with related images.
