Provides students with the opportunity to work in an occupational setting that is related to career objectives within the communications field. Provides the student with on-the-job training and requisite technical skills while earning credit toward an associate degree.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:

  1. Discuss and demonstrate how concepts and skills learned in the classroom apply to the workplace.
  2. Demonstrate the importance of effective written and oral communication skills.
  3. Identify and apply requisite skills needed in the fulfillment of a job assignment.
  4. Compare and contrast the student’s expectations of the internship and actual experience derived.
  5. Summarize the knowledge, skills and experience gained on the internship to apply these to the next job obtained by the student.
  6. Learn how to adapt to the work environment as appropriate.
  7. Prepare a professional report, research assignment, or portfolio of media projects documenting the co-op/internship experience.
