DENT 123 - Dental Anatomy

This is an in-depth course that focuses on oral, head and neck anatomy, basic embryology, histology, tooth morphology and charting dental surfaces related to the dental field. Includes dental anomalies, pathological conditions and terminology relevant to effective communication. Human anatomy is also covered as a familiarity level.

Describe the parts, surfaces, composition, types, function and anatomical features of the teeth.
Name all 32 teeth by dentition, arch, quadrant, class and type based on location in the normal, complete permanent dentition.
Describe the early development of the oral cavity and teeth.
State the normal eruption dates for the permanent teeth.
Locate and describe the function of the bones, muscles, sinuses, vascular and lymph supply, nerve supply and the surrounding supporting structures of the oral cavity that are of interest to the field of dentistry.
Describe and identify the foramen of the nerves and arteries that supply the teeth and oral cavity.
Identify five symptoms and means of treating patients with TMJ disorders.
Describe various oral and dental pathological conditions and anomalies.
