Reviews the fundamentals of Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) for environmental designers. Includes overview of advanced architectural CAD systems and use of 3-D and rendering software.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Identify 3-D hardware and software currently utilized in industry.
- Identify digital rendering hardware and software.
- Review the fundamental commands for 3-D drawing and digital rendering.
- Demonstrate the ability to implement commands and to create architectural 3-D drawings.
- Import CAD drawings into 3-D rendering software.
- Demonstrate the ability to create the following:
- CAD generated architectural floor plan
- Architectural elevations, sections, and detail drawings
- Three-dimensional environmental drawing
- Computer generated renderings
- Virtual walkthrough of the environmental space
- Demonstrate proper layer management utilizing paper space to create a set of complete drawings.
- Utilize manufacturer’s reference/block libraries and demonstrate their use in architectural and environmental drawings.
- Create a library of Furniture/elements
- Create 3-D symbols to be used in a symbols library
