HLHS 132 - Personal Fitness

Educates students about the importance of fitness in their everyday lives. Students will have the opportunity to customize their own behavioral plans for fitness.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Define fitness and the major areas IT encompasses.
  2. Assess their level of fitness and compare it to their baseline level of fitness taken at the beginning of the course to where they advance throughout the course.
  3. Design a personal health and fitness plan including a safe exercise routine with proper techniques.
  4. Identify and design a sample healthy eating plan.
  5. Critique exercise routines assessing proper techniques and safety.
  6. Identify major risk factors for exercise based on real life cases.
  7. Discuss the interrelatedness of stress, nutrition, exercise and weight management for a healthy quality of life.
