HLHS 132 - Personal Fitness PROGRAM: Healthcare Specialist CREDIT HOURS MIN: 2 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 1.5 LAB HOURS MIN: 1 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Spring, 2021
Educates students about the importance of fitness in their everyday lives. Students will have the opportunity to customize their own behavioral plans for fitness.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Define fitness and the major areas IT encompasses.
- Assess their level of fitness and compare it to their baseline level of fitness taken at the beginning of the course to where they advance throughout the course.
- Design a personal health and fitness plan including a safe exercise routine with proper techniques.
- Identify and design a sample healthy eating plan.
- Critique exercise routines assessing proper techniques and safety.
- Identify major risk factors for exercise based on real life cases.
- Discuss the interrelatedness of stress, nutrition, exercise and weight management for a healthy quality of life.
