This course introduces the fundamentals of housekeeping operations. Emphasis is placed on employee development, management skills, OSHA standards and property maintenance and up-keep. Budgeting, cost controls, proper staffing and planning a fiscal budget are also emphasized in this course.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Identify the various areas of the housekeeping department and its relationship to other key areas.
- Demonstrate through actual application the care and cleaning of guest rooms and public areas.
- Demonstrate through actual application proper procedures for operating a housekeeping department.
- Discuss key laws that pertain to the housekeeping department.
- Develop a set of budgetary controls for a successful housekeeping department.
