An opportunity for the intermediate Hospitality student to acquire valuable field experience by working the Hospitality Manager supervision. The student keeps a journal and prepares a report of their experience at the end of the course.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Recognize the operational and organizational structure of the Hospitality operation.
  2. Demonstrate professionalism by reporting for work on time, keeping appointments, and following the policies and procedures of the Hospitality operation.
  3. Discuss and demonstrate the interrelatedness of school and work.
  4. Apply the theories and skills from the textbook and lab classes to the realities and practicalities of the workplace.


COURSE CONTENT: Topical areas of study include -  

  • Developing a learning plan for the field experience
  • Recognizing and understanding diversity in Hospitality operations
  • Transfer of knowledge and skills from academic preparation to a Hospitality operation
  • Identifying career growth options in Hospitality internship site
