This course is designed for non-firefighters. An introduction to the fire service. Terminology, history and basic firefighting skills are applied
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:
- Discuss the history of fire service.
- Discuss personal safety.
- Identify personal protective equipment.
- Describe portable fire extinguishers.
- Define fire behavior.
- List and describe portable ground ladders.
- List ventilation types.
- List and describe nozzles and fittings.
- Demonstrate tying of knots.
- Describe forcible entry.
- List and demonstrate salvage and overhaul.
- List and describe sprinkler systems.
