HSPS 145 - Air Quality Management PROGRAM: Homeland Security/Public Safety CREDIT HOURS MIN: 3 LECTURE HOURS MIN: 3 DATE OF LAST REVISION: Fall, 2013
Introduce the student to air quality management, the contamination of air and the enforcement of rules enacted by the EPA and State regulators. Students will study toxicity, noise pollution, air pollution and global warming and climate weather change.
MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:
- Describe issues related to air quality management and how they influence communities.
- Explain the Clean Air regulations and EPA rules that were enacted to protect the environment.
- List major historical events and dates that influenced the passage of EPA regulations.
- Identify the process of rulemaking and how the rules protect the public.
- List the techniques and steps taken to protect the general public from contaminated air due to toxic environmental events.
- Describe safety practices and procedures for workers working in a contaminated air environment.
